Hepatitis C treatment now available at all Adagio Health locations

Pittsburgh, PA (April 6, 2023) – Adagio Health now offers Hepatitis C treatment in all nine medical office locations. According to the CDC, Hepatitis C is an infection spread through contact with blood from an infected person. This can look like sharing needles or other equipment used to prepare and inject drugs. An estimated 57,500 acute Hepatitis C cases occurred in 2019, reports the CDC, and many infections go untreated because the disease often has no symptoms.
While there is no vaccine for Hepatitis C, patients can be cured with treatments over the course of several weeks. Treatment at Adagio Health is convenient and easy: patients will go through a screening with a skilled medical provider at any office location, and if positive, receive life-changing treatment that can provide a cure for Hepatitis C. For most patients, the treatment is as simple as taking one pill a day for 12 weeks.

There are other types of Hepatitis infections that are caused in various ways, like Hepatitis A and B infections. Hepatitis A and B have vaccines available, however, and patients may get vaccinated at Adagio Health locations. If a patient is presenting symptoms for a Hepatitis infection (A, B, C), it may include:
- Fever
- Fatigue
- Joint pain
- Pain in the upper right area of the abdomen
- Nausea or vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Dark urine
- Pale, clay-colored stool
The United States Preventive Services Task Force recommends that anyone over 18 should be screened as more than half of the people infected with Hepatitis C don’t know it. Adolescents and adults who inject or inhale drugs, have served jail time, received home-based tattooing, or have a co-infection of HIV should be tested more frequently.
