Pittsburgh, Pa. (Feb. 14, 2018) – Adagio Health’s inaugural ‘Transforming Women’s Health: Adagio Health Symposium will be held on March 22, 2018. The event will bring together local, regional and national leaders in women’s health to provide opportunities to interact with experts in the field and empower women to advocate for their health.

“Adagio Health has a long history of providing care and service to help the women of Western PA lead healthier lives,” said BJ Leber, Adagio Health president and CEO. “This symposium is an opportunity for our community to coalesce around the need for policies that will positively impact women’s health and wellness. Presentations and discussions are designed to educate and encourage advocacy around current policy issues. Medical professionals, elected officials, community leaders, advocates, students and engaged patients of all genders, orientation and ages will come together for one day, and make plans for beyond that day, to drive change that will positively impact our region for a long time to come.”

Featuring keynote speaker, Senator Barbara Boxer, the inaugural Adagio Health Symposium will provide engaging opportunities for attendees to meet with professionals in reproductive health, family planning, breast and cervical cancer, nutrition, and sexual and reproductive health education. Session topics include discussions about the opioid crisis, women’s healthcare in unstable political times, health disparities in marginalized communities, effective sexual health education, and more. Rachel Levine, MD, Acting Secretary of Health and Physician General, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is the event’s honorary chair.

The Women’s Health Transformation Award, sponsored by Highmark Foundation, will be presented during a lunchtime ceremony to two organizations and one individual who exemplify innovative leadership and commitment to women’s health. The day will conclude with a networking reception hosted by Adagio Health’s Young Leadership Council, sponsored by PUMP.

The Adagio Health Symposium will take place at the Omni William Penn Hotel on Thursday, March 22, from 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Those interested in registering or learning more should visit www.adagiohealth.org/symposium.
