Casey Monroe began her career in public health as a case manager for the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force, working one-on-one with clients.
“I certainly felt the impact of that work, but I didn’t feel like I was moving the needle enough by helping one person at a time,” she says. “I always wanted to look at the bigger picture.”
Today, as the director of cancer screening and chronic disease at Adagio Health, she does just that, providing the residents of 62 Pennsylvania counties with free breast and cervical cancer services, including screenings, diagnosis and treatment.
She also works on tobacco prevention and control, including education for school districts in 10 southwestern counties, and sits on the board of directors at The Midwife Center.
It’s all part of her mission to impact access to care and to provide a model for her two daughters.
“I want to help create a world we want our kids to be a part of,” she says.
