Training of Trainers

Training and certification opportunities through Adagio Health

Adagio Health empowers people across western Pennsylvania through a variety of risk-reduction and prevention education programs and professional development opportunities. The Education Department offers Training of Trainers Certificates for the following curriculums:

Making Proud Choices
Making Proud Choices! An evidence-based, safer-sex approach to teen pregnancy and HIV/STD prevention is a curriculum that provides adolescents with the knowledge, confidence and skills necessary to reduce their risk of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), HIV and pregnancy by abstaining from sex or using condoms if they choose to have sex. The intervention is based on cognitive-behavioral theories, focus groups and the authors’ extensive experience working with young people.

Positive Action
The Positive Action curriculum focuses on the Thoughts-Actions-Feelings Circle (TAF) and illustrates how this works in life: our thoughts lead to actions and those actions lead to feelings about ourselves which in turn lead to more thoughts. Based on 7 core units, each grade level receives the same topics as appropriate. The curriculum has versions for elementary, middle and high school.

Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.
